Imagine you're craving Mexican food but need it to be gluten-free, and you're also searching for vegan options for your friend. Current apps often fall short, forcing users with specific dietary preferences to painstakingly sift through menus one by one. Enter Friendly: the first app designed to seamlessly integrate multiple dietary preferences into a single, streamlined search. With Friendly, you can easily find restaurants that cater to everyone's needs, saving time and enhancing your dining experience.

PROTOTYPING

THE SOLUTION

The standout feature of Friendly is its customizable search functionality. Prototyping this aspect was instrumental in enhancing my understanding of the user experience. It enabled me to explore how a user can navigate a vast array of food options and preferences while simultaneously tailoring search results to align with their friends' profiles. This approach ensures that a user not only finds what they want but can also easily see options that their friends would enjoy, based on individual preferences.

USER EXPERIENCE

MAPPING IT OUT

In designing the user experience for this app, I encountered several significant challenges. A primary issue was accommodating multiple search criteria simultaneously. To address this, I introduced dual search functionalities: a standard search for straightforward queries and a custom search option for more complex, personalized needs. Another challenge involved optimizing the app for group use. I resolved this by integrating an event-making feature, similar to Partiful but with greater depth than OpenTable, allowing users to plan and manage group dining experiences more efficiently.



 BRAND IDENTITY

BRIGHT AND TRUSTWORTHY

The essence of this brand identity can be encapsulated in one word: friendly! The logo was inspired by the concept of smiles, reflecting an approachable and positive vibe. The consistent line weight used in the logotype projects a feeling of sturdiness and reliability. In developing the extended brand identity system, I had the opportunity to experiment with graphic elements, maintaining a lively and eye-catching expression of the brand throughout.
